First name, Lord

First name, Lord
A style of address used to the younger son of a duke or marquess. ‘Good night, Lord Michael,’ says a speaker in A Surfeit of Lampreys, by Ngaio Marsh, after a death in the family has caused the boy to inherit the title. ‘“Daddy!” he said. “It’s not going to be that!” “Well,” said Lord Charles, “well, yes, I’m afraid - well, yes, Mike it is.” “Good Lord! it’s a damn sight worse than Potty!”’
